MARA Midget Series Releases 2024 Schedule
Lincoln, IL (January 19, 2024) - The Midget Auto Racing Association, sanctioned by the BMARA, will launch its second season in 2024 since being revived a year ago. The series will host a total of 19 events including five different venues across the state of Illinois.
New to the schedule in 2024 will be the additions of Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, IL, and Champaign County Speedway in Urbana, IL. They will join the MARA series home track, Lincoln Speedway, Kankakee Speedway, and Sycamore Speedway to make up the entirety of the 2024 schedule.
The MARA season opener will occur on Friday, April 5 at the ¼ mile Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL. In addition to the series opener, Lincoln Speedway will host seven additional events during the season and play a vital role in the hunt for the MARA championship. It’s safe to say, success at Lincoln Speedway could lead to a series championship in 2024.
Jacksonville Speedway is a highly anticipated addition to the MARA series in 2024. A fan favorite, Jacksonville Speedway is a ¼ mile bullring located at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Jacksonville, IL. Jacksonville will hold a total of four MARA events including the series championship. Teams will want to have exercised all their demons heading into championship weekend as the finale will take place on Friday, September 13th.
The Champaign County Speedway will be a highly anticipated addition to the MARA calendar in 2024. The Champaign County Speedway is a ¼ mile track located inside the Champaign County Fair facility and was built in 2015. The series will invade the speedway during the annual Fair race held on July 19.
Kankakee Speedway in Kankakee, IL and Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, IL will both see co-sanctioned events in 2024. The MARA Midgets will join the Badger Midgets for six total events at the two tracks. Last season, the Kankakee Speedway saw 37 cars turn out between the two series. The two tracks will host the first doubleheader weekend of the season on Friday, May 10 & Saturday, May 11.
