Sparks And McMahill To Duel It Out For MARA Title This Saturday At Coles County Speedway

Crystal Lake, Illinois, native Jace Sparks leads Mark McMahill of Peoria, Illinois, by just 21 points going into the season finale at Coles County Speedway, Mattoon, IL, this Saturday, October, 11. Daltyn England is a distant third in the point race. He’d need the top two drivers to not show up at all to have a chance at the title, because if a driver is there and just tries to qualify they earn 30 “show up points.”

Here’s a quick (and unofficial) breakdown on how the points work:
Qualifying, heats and the A-Main all pay points.
The difference between first and second in qualifying and the heats is five (5) points. From second on down to fifth the difference is two (2) points per spot. There are no points for those out of the top-five in qualifying or a heat. The top qualifier gets 15 points and a heat win earns the driver 14.

Then comes the A-Main. The winner earns 90 points in the A-Main. The runner-up gets 80. From there to tenth spot, the difference between finishing positions is five (5) points, through tenth place which earns 40 points. Eleventh place earns 38 points. Things aren’t quite congruent the rest of the way down to the last finishing position so we’ll encourage those who are curious to check out our rules page.

Please see Coles County Speedway’s pages or the MARA Facebook page for times.
