MARA Midgets Set for Doubleheader Weekend
Lincoln, IL (June 8, 2023) - The Midget Auto Racing Association will see its first doubleheader race weekend of the 2023 season on Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10. The series will be at its home track, Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL, on Friday and at Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, IL on Saturday.
The last event for the MARA Midgets was scheduled for May 19 but was canceled due to rain. Adam Taylor and Daltyn England enter the event with 187 points each. Taylor, by virtue of a race win, is the current leader. Taylor is not expected to participate on Friday. Mark McMahill, Jace Sparks, and Tommy Colburn round out the top five.
Adam Taylor won the most recent MARA Midget Series event at Kankakee Speedway on May 5. The most recent race winner at Lincoln Speedway was Mitchell Davis followed by Daltyn England and Taylor. England is expected to participate in Friday’s event and is expected to be in contention for the win. Andy Baugh will make his return to the series Friday driving the 6B machine owned by Mike Raymond.
Saturday will mark the series' first event at Sycamore Speedway. The MARA Midgets will be joined by the Badger Midgets for the first of five co-sanctioned races at the track this season. The last co-sanctioned event saw 37 entries sign in so a large contingent of cars is expected to be on hand.
Friday’s event at Lincoln Speedway will be streamed live on Lincoln Speedway TV. Saturday’s event will be streamed live on FloRacing.
